If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman. Margaret Thatcher

This is what the beautiful, intelligent and hardworking long legged screen goddess Yvonne Nelson stands for. She walks her talk….maybe its because she’s got the legs. 🙂

Yvonne was born in Accra but she is a Fante by tribe whose hometown is Cape Coast. She started her education at St. Martin De Porres School in Accra and later went to Aggrey Memorial Senior High School. The foundation funded surgeries of some selected patients and also sponsored an essay competition for high schools in Ghana to throw more light on the purpose of the Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation.  This charity organization is also helping the less privileged and physical challenged in various communities in the country.

With the support from other Ghanaian celebrities, she recorded an all-star charity single and shot a video to help educate people on avoidable diseases that cause death. As a fashionista and trend-setter, Yvonne decided to share her fashion sense with friends and fans by opening up a fashion outlet named YN’s Closet. This fashion shop is located at East Legon, a suburb of Accra and you can get almost all the type of clothes, shoes and accessories she mostly rock on screen and in real life

After making her mark on the sands of  acting, in 2011 Yvonne Nelson established her own production company  YN Productions  to nurture young talents and  produced her first movie “The Price” .  Following a successful production and premier of  that movie,  YN Productions continues to produce world class movies which includes Single & Married, House of Gold, Single…married & complicated, If tomorrow never comes and the latest on our screens is the flashy TV series Heels & Sneakers.  Her productions have won numerous accolades including “Best Picture Award” at the Ghana Movie Awards and “Best Ghanaian Movie in Nigeria” at the City Peoples Entertainment Awards.

In 2015, Ghana went through a serious energy crisis which negatively affected businesses, industries and the lives of the masses. As a result, everyone wanted a way to voice their grievances to the government and other stakeholders in the energy industry but there was no sure way so  Yvonne Nelson took it upon herself  to be the voice of the masses.  Together with her celebrity friends in Ghana, they led the masses to protest against the energy crisis in the country on May 16, 2015. This protest which was dubbed DumsorMustStop shook the world, it was shown on giant  news station like CNN, BBC etc. and this was historic freedom fight since after independent. She won the name Yaa Asantewaa after this bold step because Yaa Asantewaa was an Ashanti queen who led her people to fight the British for freedom.

  1. Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Keep up the good work on your blog.
